Synopsis

“Bestiary” is a film essay that offers a contemplative gaze at the backstage of a zoo, proposing a quiet reflection on the relationship between humans and animals and the urge to dominate and seize control of the other. Through a refined approach, the film’s rigorous framing and minimalist sound design heighten the awareness of the confinement forced upon those who seem to be observing us as much as we are observing them. In the end, on which side of the fence are the eponymous beasts? (RIDM)
