Synopsis

In the Niger Delta, the revolutionary Jomo (Morr Ndiaye) fights against oil companies that threaten his village. At the same time, Aleksei (Franz Rogowski), an illegal immigrant from Belarus, joins the Foreign Legion to become a legal French citizen. After Jomo and his  companions kidnap a group of French citizens, Aleksei is sent there to lead an operation. In this singular epic war tale, Aleksei’s fate will forever be marred by the destruction, blood, delusions, and consequences of his struggles. In his debut feature film, Giacomo Abbruzzese delves deep into the images and symbolism of the Legion’s actions. (G.B.)
