Freda (Néhémie Bastien) lives with her family in Port-au-Prince, Haiti’s capital city, where they try to make a living out of a small grocery store. Even amid the country’s instability, escalating violence, and dire living conditions, Freda and her colleagues still hold on to the dream of a better and more free future. A fictional film between an intimate family drama and an effervescent collective portrait of a generation and a country in turmoil. (G. B.)
Gessica Généus is an actress, singer and director from Haiti. She began her career when she was 17 years old. She then won a scholarship to study at Acting International in Paris. She returned to Haiti and created her own production company, Ayizian Productions, to develop her own work.In 2017, her documentary film "Douvan Jou Ka Leve" (The Day Will Dawn) won seven awards. It continues to be shown around the world. "Freda" is her first feature film.
