“Further and Further Away” is a film about the distances and ruptures that settle within, in the most intimate structure of two characters who, akin to the landscape and place of where they live, seem increasingly distant. Distance as form, as dramaturgy and mise-en-scene which, while integrating itself into traditional codes, reveals a forceful work produced in Cambodia. (B. G.)
Polen Ly paused his studies in medicine to pursue his filmmaking path in 2012. He has directed several shorts and documentaries, which explore social issues related to the environment, human rights, including LGBTQIA+ and indigenous experiences. In 2015, his short film "Colourful Knots" won first prize at Tropfest SEA in Malaysia. In 2021, his documentary short, "Side by Side", was selected in the Open Doors section at Locarno.
