Synopsis
In her second feature film, the director invites us to wander through times and intimacies that merge two crossings: a logbook of her return to China at the onset of the pandemic, and her family’s trip to Myanmar years earlier to investigate the migration of her great-grandfather. The affective montage, ushered by the erratic dimension of thought, results in a visual black and white flow echoing memories of individual and family isolation. In this handcrafted essay developed alongside those who are close, to understand one’s own experience seems inseparable from the desire to transform it into an image. (C. I.)
