Synopsis
Bruno (played by the director himself) thwarts his brother’s suicide attempt. Complicity, care, and helplessness when confronting mental illness, and the related responsible institutions, engulf the small family unit in the spiral of tensions that come after trauma. Winner of Best Debut Film, Best Emerging Filmmaker, and Best Actor at Locarno, Safe Place is a brave autobiographical fiction film, in which a delicate and, to some extent, facetious disruption casts light on the shadows of a painful and raw reality.
