Through a frenzied tour of the attractions and curses of Bariloche, as if painted by a subversive tour guide, Manque La Banca fashions a heterogeneous collection of narratives, seduced by outlandish movements and the allure of fictions. From the gentle facades of smiling visitors to the cryptic depths of the region, without diverting his eyes from the historical violence of Argentine Patagonia, the filmmaker’s bold portrait leaves as a souvenir, at the end of the trip, a vibrant disquietude: who do the mountains really belong to? *(L.B)
