The mysteries surrounding the ancient Mount Castelo, in downtown Rio de Janeiro, will pit the student Leo (played by Negro Leo) and his aunt, the teacher Stein (Silvana Stein), against cryptic messages, temporal folds, and geological conspiracies in a doomed territory. In this playful adventure that expounds the unusual and the ordinary amid a longstanding history of destruction, legends about an ancient Jesuit treasure, disseminated by Lima Barreto in the early twentieth century, become counterpart to contemporary horrors such as the fire at the National Museum. *(L.B)
