The rebirth within one’s own body is a process that reclaims its history. From the Véronique that bids farewell and the Vikken that emerges, many other metamorphoses have occurred: the transition of Tiresias, Caenis who became Caeneus in Greek mythology, as well as characters who, in both Catholic and Islamic scriptures, emerged as bodies that did not fit prior gender designations. But Vikken will need more than History to say goodbye to Véronique. Caution and affection are necessary for preventing the rules of the State to subdue the desire to be. *(C.A)
