Marcelo, the film’s protagonist, invites us to visit his home and his memories as he discusses life with HIV, dating via gay apps, and memories of past lives. Composing a diptych with Vinagre's previous film, 'Rosa Azul de Novalis' goes a step further by not restricting itself to the spoken word: it materializes the previously imagined, reshaping traumas in the labyrinthine spaces of the house. The rarity of the title's blue rose signals to Marcelo’s singularity as a unique voice, away from the norm, and filled with intensities.
Gustavo Vinagre, Rodrigo Carneiro Gustavo Vinagre and Rodrigo Carneiro studied script and editing, respectively, at EICTV in Cuba. They worked together in several films directed by Vinagre and edited by Carneiro, such as ‘Film for Blind Poet’, ‘New Dubai’, ‘Chutes’, and ‘Disaster Film’. They founded the production company Carneiro Verde in 2016, and produced the short film ‘Bitch’ and the feature films ‘I Remember the Crows’ and their collaborative debut as co-directors ‘The Blue Rose of Novalis’.
