Synopsis

This world premiere is a documentary portrait of a vibrant figure of resistance – Helena Ignez, a crucial Brazilian theater artist and filmmaker who for more than a half-century has also been one of world cinema’s greatest actresses. "‘The Woman of Her Own Light’ is a film that speaks directly aboutthe importance of female presence in Brazilian cinema,” says the film’s director and one of Ignez’s three daughters. “A feminist film that addresses the artist’s trajectory, her personal relationships, and maternity as well as the difficulties a woman faces in doing her job”.

Sinai Sganzerla Born in a family of filmmakers, Sinai Sganzerla has worked with cinema since 2004, being responsible for the production and preservation of films in her production company Mercúrio Produções. She produced several films and distributed ‘Light in Darkness’ (2010) in theaters as well as the film she directed and produced ‘O Desmonte do Monte’ (2018).
