MINISTÉRIO DA CIDADANIA, GOVERNO DO PARANÁ E COPEL presents

Synopsis

‘Vagabond’ is one of the most acclaimed films of the past 40 years, and yet it still somehow seems underrated. Many texts have been written about a film that resists analysis or diagnosis, a bit like its protagonist, Mona - an amazingly feral Sandrine Bonnaire-, a homeless and lawless young woman whose searches for physical and emotional nourishment throughout the countryside of France’s Languedoc-Roussillon region are recalled in flashback following the discovery of her frozen body in a ditch at Vagabond’s outset. The question of “why did this happen?” turns hauntingly into “how could it”?
