An homage to the American Barbara Hammer (1939-2019), with a career spanning over 40 years. In addition to paying tribute to her pioneering self-categorized lesbian experimental cinema, the session presents her work in dialogue with short films by contemporary Brazilian directors: ‘Latifúndio’, ‘Boca de Loba’, and ‘X-Manas’, as well as the American Deborah Stratman’s latest film. The program composes a mosaic of queer times and images that modernizes and reverberates Hammer's aesthetic proposal, with special attention to the non-normative ways by which cinema addresses sexuality, desire, and bodies.
