Official Selection 2022: Competitive, New Views and Other Views

The contemporary section programming features a global production created and released in the midst of unsettling times. These films echo the peculiar reality of the pandemic years, while also addressing conflicts around the world (military at times, but also ethnic or social) and reflecting upon issues such as representation and visibility. In these works, we often find the filmmakers’ and their characters’ individual and family dramas mixed with broader issues pertaining to the countries and regions where their narratives take place. As such, these films traverse each other, uniting past and present, yet also projecting possible futures, presenting a compelling X-ray of the state-of-the art in filmmaking in these recent years.
